How States Are Expanding Apprenticeship

Posted on

A new report from the Center for American Progress highlights state strategies to expand apprenticeship programs, which can provide job security and middle-class incomes to workers without education beyond high school. How States Are Expanding Apprenticeship argues that apprenticeships benefit both employers and employees. Workers who complete an apprenticeship can increase their lifetime earnings by as much as $300,000 and employers see a strong return on their investment from these programs. The report finds that states are using a range of strategies to expand apprenticeship offerings, including direct state funding; public-private partnerships; developing talent pipelines by focusing on youth apprenticeships, and integrating apprenticeships into broader workforce development plans.
