Helping Firms by Helping Employees? Work-Life Balance in America

Firms that implement stronger work-life balance policies—such as telework, part-time options, child care support, and paid leave—are more likely to have better management practices and higher revenues, according to a new study by the Center for American Progress. Helping Firms by Helping Employees: Work-Life Balance in America finds that while American companies lead the world in adopting modern management practices, they lag behind many European nations in adopting work-life policies. The authors note that American firms may be skeptical of adopting progressive work-life policies because they doubt the financial benefits.
