Freedom from hunger: An achievable goal for the United States of America
National Commission on Hunger, January 2016
Congress created the bipartisan National Commission on Hunger in May 2014 to identify solutions to hunger in the United States. The Commission’s new report argues that hunger cannot be solved solely by the government or private charity, and that broad economic improvement and private-public partnerships are necessary to combat the issue. The authors recommend improving SNAP and child nutrition programs; incentivizing corporate, nonprofit, and public partnerships to address hunger; and creating a standing executive council focused on the issue.
