February 23 Forum – Pathways to Opportunity: Housing, Transportation, and Social Mobility

Posted on

Both the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Transportation recently took actions to help connect low-income communities to jobs, education, and other resources. HUD’s “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” rule aims to address racially concentrated poverty by expanding affordable housing and the Department of Transportation has launched a pilot program in seven U.S. cities to improve community transportation. The Brookings Institution will host a conversation between HUD Secretary Julián Castro and Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx on the new initiatives, followed by a panel discussion. The event will be held at Brookings in Washington, D.C., from 2 – 4 p.m. EST. Click here to register.
