“As the longest-ever government shutdown drags on, roughly 100 city employees have to work overtime to ensure those who receive federal food assistance will get help in February before funding dries up. Right now, Virginia Beach is in a dash to make sure benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, are out by Jan. 20, said Deidria W. Bolden, the city’s Financial Assistance Division Administrator.
