DeVos to Announce Federal Tax Credit for School Choice
“Education Secretary Betsy DeVos on Thursday plans to back a proposal for a $5 billion federal tax credit for donations to scholarships for private schools and other educational programs, according to a senior Education Department official. Ms. DeVos, long a proponent of school choice, has made little progress in pushing a signature initiative. Her budget proposals, which have sought to fund private school vouchers and public charter schools, have failed to garner support among Democrats or Republicans in Congress.”
