Dead, poor and alone: What the county does with unclaimed bodies

Michael Kuntz died in 2015, just a few days shy of his 60th birthday. With no money for a burial and no relatives willing to take his remains, he was buried in an unmarked grave in Clarence. When some of his bar buddies discovered his grave had no headstone, they passed around a jar and took up a collection to buy him a 9-by-9 inch concrete marker that called him a ‘Citizen of the World,’ the cemetery president recalled.”
