D.C. voters to decide in June if tipped workers should get same minimum wage

D.C. voters will decide whether to require restaurants to pay the minimum wage to waiters, bartenders and others who earn a ‘tipped wage’ — a low base rate plus tips. The D.C. Board of Elections on Wednesday authorized a ballot measure for the June 19 election that would gradually increase the hourly wage — currently $3.33 — made by restaurant workers until it matches the city’s minimum wage for other workers by 2026.”
