City moves 20 people from North Austin homeless encampment into city-owned hotel

Posted on

“City officials say 20 people at a North Austin homeless encampment have been moved to a city-owned hotel.

The people were relocated from the East St. Johns Ave. and I-35 service road area to the Southbridge shelter in South Austin.

The City of Austin said this was done under the Housing-Focused Encampment Assistance Link (HEAL) Initiative, which aims to compassionately close homeless encampments that pose the highest public health and safety risks.”
