California ‘undergrounding’ approach leaves lower-income populations disadvantaged

“Lower-income communities in California shoulder a disproportionate share of fire-prone overhead power lines and wooden utility poles, a new study has found. While one of the most effective ways to prevent wildfires and improve system resilience is to bury power lines underground, doing so largely occurs at the expense of the local community, the study authors noted.”
