Alabama DHR raises low-income child care subsidies
“The Alabama Department of Human Resources has increased the subsidies that help low-income families obtain child care services, thanks to a $40.7 million boost in federal funding provided by the Omnibus bill signed earlier this year by President Trump, DHR said in a news release. The new rates will vary depending on the child care market. DHR conducted a market survey last year to determine costs by region. For example, the subsidy for infants and toddlers for a center in Birmingham increased from $118 a week to $142 a week. Birmingham is part of the costliest region in the state.”
