500 children will get free swim lessons in RI. Here’s how the program is saving lives.
“The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management estimates that 500 children and teens from low-income households will get free swimming lessons after the agency distributed funding for classes and instruction. The DEM has awarded $70,723 to 10 organizations as part of the state’s effort to address an increase in drowning deaths across the country, particularly among youths who don’t have easy access to lessons.”
