Spotlight Webcast — Wayne Taliaferro on Racial Inequities in Incarceration
The recent Reconnecting Justice: Pathways to Effective Reentry through Education and Training forum, hosted by the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP), focused on the policies affecting the 650,000 ex-offenders released from prison each year. Incarcerated individuals are disproportionately people of color as well as adults with low educational attainment. Panelists discussed the power of investing in robust education and training opportunities for incarcerated people and ways to connect them to continued education and employment opportunities after their release.
Wayne Taliaferro, policy analyst at CLASP, was a panelist at the forum. Afterward, Taliaferro spoke with Spotlight‘s Jodie Levin-Epstein on CLASP’s commitment to criminal justice reform, as well as the historical racial disparities in incarceration in the U.S. The interview is broken into three segments below:
