October 28 Forum – Reconnecting Justice: Pathways to Effective Reentry through Education and Training

Posted on

Research shows that access to education while incarcerated can reduce recidivism rates once people are released from prison, but many states are hesitant to invest in prison education programs. The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) will host a forum to discuss policy options to provide education to incarcerated people. Speakers include Nicholas Turner, president and director of the Vera Institute of Justice; Sean Addie, director of the U.S. Department of Education Office of Correctional Education; Rev. Vivian Nixon, executive director of the College and Community Fellowship; and a number of state experts on corrections and postsecondary education. The event will be held at CLASP in Washington, D.C., from 12-3 p.m. EDT. Click here to register.
